1. Objective & Teams
Queens & Kings expands traditional checkers into a 4-player strategy board game. In team play, work with your teammate to eliminate the opposing team or leave them with no legal moves.
- Team A: Orange + Red (Allies)
- Team B: Green + Purple (Allies)
2. Board Modes
- 13×13 Short Game: 9 pieces per player. Compact, fast-paced battle.
- 17×17 Full Game: 18 pieces per player across three staggered rows. Deep tactical warfare.
3. Movement & Mandatory Captures
- Regular Pieces: Move 1 diagonal space forward on dark playable squares. Capture enemy pieces by jumping diagonally into the first open square behind them.
- Mandatory Jumps: If any capture is available on your turn, you MUST capture. If another jump is available after landing, the same piece must continue until no captures remain!
4. Teammate Jumps
In team play, a piece may jump over its teammate's piece under a special movement rule:
- Teammate jumps do NOT capture or remove the teammate's piece.
- A teammate jump ends your turn immediately (cannot chain into an enemy capture).
5. Promotions to King & Queen
- King Promotion (Center Scepter at 8,8): Any regular piece that lands on the center Scepter is promoted to King! Kings move and capture 1 space diagonally in all 4 directions (forward or backward).
- Queen Promotion (Far Opposite End): A piece reaching the opposite far boundary of the board is promoted to Queen! Queens can slide any number of unobstructed diagonal spaces.
6. Quick Reference
- Orange moves: Upward (toward top)
- Red moves: Downward (toward bottom)
- Green moves: Rightward (toward right side)
- Purple moves: Leftward (toward left side)
